General

Applied a Data-enabled Design approach [1] to explore sleep behaviour in context through probe deployment. Starting from environmental sensing and later shifting toward awake-in-bed behaviour, the project developed Lumi Alarm, a light-based inform probe that used ambient cues to reduce non-sleep activities in bed and support healthier bedtime routines.

Contribution to PI&V

  • The project helped me treat data as a design material rather than only a measurement outcome.
  • Probes and diaries made everyday sleep behaviour visible in a more situated and reflective way.

Involved Expertise Areas

  • MD&C: Data-enabled Design principles, probe-based data collection, diary-supported data interpretation
  • T&R: context exploration probe, informed exploration probe, ambient-light interaction prototyping
  • U&S: co-constructing stories (field testing)
